Free Find Your Joy “Taster” Course 2023
I want to invite you to a fantastic opportunity offered by artist Louise Fletcher. Her FREE course is coming up quickly at the beginning of September. I’ve joined her Find Your Joy free taster course every year since the 2020 pandemic. Countless others, including many successful artists, have participated. Louise’s way of teaching art is disarming and fun, making even beginners and professionals feel at ease. The taster course helps people find joy and freedom in artmaking by identifying common mental blocks.
I hope this opportunity nudges you off the artistic fence. Throw caution to the wind and jump in. It’s not as terrifying or as hard as it may seem. You have nothing to lose!

Details of the Find Your Joy Workshop
The official kick-off for this online workshop is on September 1st, 2023. The “buzz” has already started on Facebook and Instagram.
The sessions touch upon the importance of play, learning to embrace failure, loving limitations, and much more.
Take part in the live sessions or watch and re-watch them for a limited time. A schedule of events will help you plan. This is a very much ‘hands-on’ workshop – you will get much more out of it by doing the assignments. You’re supposed to have fun, not fret.
You don’t need fancy art supplies. Here’s a short list:
- several sheets of heavier paper (reach into your recycling bin for cereal boxes and paper bags),
- inexpensive basic acrylic paints, and
- some masking tape.
The workshop also has an optional Facebook popup group. I’ve made friends in the workshop with artists from around the world I still keep in touch with. Why not join this group, make friends, and be a light for Christ while learning new art skills?
Timing
Here’s how your week will play out:
- The course starts on September 1st and runs until September 8th. The content alternates between four videos and live Q&A sessions.
- The pre-recorded videos arrive via email. The Q&A sessions are streamed live; you can watch a recording later. Louise sends all lessons at 6am UK time.
- All Q&A sessions are at 6pm UK time (a recording is emailed within 24 hours).
Louise’s Facebook group opens on August 25th (you’ll receive an invitation to the group by email).
Sus Schmitt created a Workplace event to connect with Cru staff attending the course from now through September 10th.

Guest Post by Gordana
I was born and grew up a carefree atheist in a country that doesn’t exist anymore; Yugoslavia. I became a believer in the second year of English literature studies at the University of Belgrade. Fast-forward a few years when I met my husband while dubbing the JESUS Film into Serbian. Fast-forward a bit more to when we married and had kids, who are the rare breed of true Floridians.
I’ve been a writer since birth, became a gardener to avoid HOA fines, and a sourdough bread baker to preserve my sanity during the pandemic. That is when I also started messing with paint under the careful supervision of our outrageously spoiled cat Palčica (Thumbelina in Serbian).
NOTES:
- More great freebies from Louise:
- Louise Fletcher took one of Nicholas Wilton’s courses and highly recommends him. She says it was life-changing. We featured his Art 2 Life course earlier this year.

- Gordana’s artwork at the top of this post is from a recent “taster exercise” she worked on.
